EMPLOYMENT: THE EU COMMISSION APPROVES THE ITALIAN DECREE FOR EXEMPTING FROM CONTRIBUTIONS THE EMPLOYERS IN THE TOURISM, SPAS, TRADE SECTORS, AS WELL AS IN THE CREATIVE, CULTURAL AND ENTERTAINMENT SECTORS

“Following an intense dialogue with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies and thanks to the support of the Italian Representation in Brussels, the European Commission approved, pursuant to EU legislation on state aid, the exemption from contributions by the Sostegni-bis Decree-Law in favor of private employers operating in the tourism, spas, trade sectors, as well as in the creative, cultural and entertainment sectors, particularly affected by the economic effects connected to the ongoing epidemiological emergency.

The aid aims to preserve employment levels through the recognition of the exemption from the payment of social security contributions, due from 25 May to 31 December 2021, to an extent not exceeding double the hours of wage integration used in January, February and March 2021. The Commission assessed the measure as adequate, proportionate and necessary in order to remedy the serious disturbance of the country’s economy, in accordance with the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and the conditions established in the Temporary Framework for aid of State “.
