“ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION ON INVESTING IN CHILDREN”

On Tuesday, 26 September 2017, the Permanent Representation of Italy to the EU hosted a roundtable organized with Save the Children on investing in Children to reduce poverty and social exclusion.

The event focused on how EU policy guidance and financial instruments could further promote children’s well-being and investment in children in the EU, taking into account the new opportunities provided by the European Pillar of social Rights, the Preparatory action for a Child Guarantee and the next Multiannual Financial Framework.

Introductory remarks by Deputy Permanent Representative Amb. Giovanni Pugliese underlined the importance of the problem in Italy and the need to invest in children, our future. The conference was attended by the director of the Save the Children EU office Ester Asin, the director of the Italy-Europe programmes of Save the Children Italy Raffaella Milano, ESPN Coordinator Professor Hugh Frazer, Head of Unit Emmanuelle Grange and Senior Policy Officer Marie-Anne Paraskevas of DG EMPL and European Parliament Member Brando Benifei.
