The Permanent Representation of Italy to the EU and the Emilia-Romagna Region presented two major initiatives linked to EXPO 2015: the Milan Charter and the World Food Research and Innovation Forum. Both strategic initiatives constitute an integral part of the legacy of EXPO 2015.
The Milan Charter, promoted by the Italian Government, is a participatory and shared document that calls on every citizen, association, company and institution to assume their responsibility in ensuring that future generations can enjoy the right to food.
The World Food Research and Innovation Forum, as a strategic initiative by the Emilia-Romagna Region, will contribute to bringing research and innovation at the centre of the debate on food and nutrition. The forum is a permanent platform that attracts worldwide actors and competences on food research and safety, to find solutions to world food challenges.
The panels included distinguished guests to introduce the main topics of EXPO2015 and the opportunities offered by the Milan Charter and the World Food Research and Innovation Forum: Emilia-Romagna Region President Bonaccini, CoR President Makkula, Deputy Permanent Representative Marco Peronaci and MEP De Castro (Chairman of the World Food Research & Innovation Forum)as well as international and european experts.
